Details
A vulnerability has been found in LearningCircuit local-deep-research up to 1.3.8 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function requests.get of the file download_service.py of the component Download Service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Local Deep Research is an AI-powered research assistant for deep, iterative research. In versions from 1.3.0 to before 1.3.9, the download service (download_service.py) makes HTTP requests using raw requests.get() without utilizing the application's SSRF protection (safe_requests.py). This can allow attackers to access internal services and attempt to reach cloud provider metadata endpoints (AWS/GCP/Azure), as well as perform internal network reconnaissance, by submitting malicious URLs through the API, depending on the deployment and surrounding controls. This issue has been patched in version 1.3.9.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-67743 since 12/11/2025. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 1.3.9 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch b79089ff30c5d9ae77e6b903c408e1c26ad5c055 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
