Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.15.107/6.1.24/6.2.11. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function irdma_del_hmc_objects. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a initialization vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-665. The product does not initialize or incorrectly initializes a resource, which might leave the resource in an unexpected state when it is accessed or used. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/irdma: Fix memory leak of PBLE objects On rmmod of irdma, the PBLE object memory is not being freed. PBLE object memory are not statically pre-allocated at function initialization time unlike other HMC objects. PBLEs objects and the Segment Descriptors (SD) for it can be dynamically allocated during scale up and SD's remain allocated till function deinitialization. Fix this leak by adding IRDMA_HMC_IW_PBLE to the iw_hmc_obj_types[] table and skip pbles in irdma_create_hmc_obj but not in irdma_del_hmc_objects().
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2023-54055 since 12/24/2025. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 279949 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2023-54055), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
