Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.62/6.17.12/6.18.1. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function panthor_fw_unplug of the component drm. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/panthor: Fix UAF race between device unplug and FW event processing The function panthor_fw_unplug() will free the FW memory sections. The problem is that there could still be pending FW events which are yet not handled at this point. process_fw_events_work() can in this case try to access said freed memory. Simply call disable_work_sync() to both drain and prevent future invocation of process_fw_events_work().
