Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.15.85/6.0.15/6.1.1. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function q6v5_wcss_init_mmio. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: remoteproc: qcom: q6v5: Fix potential null-ptr-deref in q6v5_wcss_init_mmio() q6v5_wcss_init_mmio() will call platform_get_resource_byname() that may fail and return NULL. devm_ioremap() will use res->start as input, which may causes null-ptr-deref. Check the ret value of platform_get_resource_byname() to avoid the null-ptr-deref.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2022-50888 since 12/30/2025. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
