Details
A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.2 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function acpi_put_table of the component tpm. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tpm: tpm_tis: Add the missed acpi_put_table() to fix memory leak In check_acpi_tpm2(), we get the TPM2 table just to make sure the table is there, not used after the init, so the acpi_put_table() should be added to release the ACPI memory.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2022-50824 since 12/30/2025. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 280810 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2022-50824), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
