Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.15.107/6.1.23/6.2.10. This affects the function i915_perf_add_config_ioctl. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/i915: fix race condition UAF in i915_perf_add_config_ioctl Userspace can guess the id value and try to race oa_config object creation with config remove, resulting in a use-after-free if we dereference the object after unlocking the metrics_lock. For that reason, unlocking the metrics_lock must be done after we are done dereferencing the object.
