Details
A vulnerability was found in SOUND4 Impact, Pulse, First, Pulse Eco, BigVoice4, BigVoice2 and Stream. It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component Firmware Upload Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
SOUND4 IMPACT/FIRST/PULSE/Eco <=2.x contains an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the firmware upload functionality with path traversal flaw. Attackers can exploit the upload.cgi script to write malicious files to the system with www-data permissions, enabling unauthorized access and code execution.
