A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in getsolus eopkg up to 4.3.x. This issue affects an unknown code block. eopkg is a Solus package manager implemented in python3. In versions prior to 4.4.0, a malicious package could escape the directory set by `--destdir`. This requires the installation of a package from a malicious or compromised source. Files in such packages would not be installed in the path given by `--destdir`, but on a different location on the host. The issue has been fixed in v4.4.0. Users only installing packages from the Solus repositories are not affected.

The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-21436 since 12/29/2025. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
