Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in OpenLDAP Lightning Memory-Mapped Database up to 2.6.10. Affected is the function readline. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
OpenLDAP Lightning Memory-Mapped Database (LMDB) versions up to and including 0.9.14, prior to commit 8e1fda8, contain a heap buffer underflow in the readline() function of mdb_load. When processing malformed input containing an embedded NUL byte, an unsigned offset calculation can underflow and cause an out-of-bounds read of one byte before the allocated heap buffer. This can cause mdb_load to crash, leading to a limited denial-of-service condition.
The weakness was presented by Ron Edgerson. The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-22185 since 01/06/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
