The ftp_syst function in ftp-basic.c in Free Software Foundation (FSF) GNU wget 1.10.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a malicious FTP server with a large number of blank 220 responses to the SYST command.

The bug was discovered 12/18/2006. The weakness was released 12/23/2006 by Federico L. Bossi Bonin (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-6719 since 12/22/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
