Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in libsoup (affected version not known). Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component Incoming Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a buffer access with incorrect length value vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-805. The product uses a sequential operation to read or write a buffer, but it uses an incorrect length value that causes it to access memory that is outside of the bounds of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A flaw was found in libsoup’s WebSocket frame processing when handling incoming messages. If a non-default configuration is used where the maximum incoming payload size is unset, the library may read memory outside the intended bounds. This can cause unintended memory exposure or a crash. Applications using libsoup’s WebSocket support with this configuration may be impacted.
The advisory is available at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-0716 since 01/08/2026. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/31/2026).
