A vulnerability was found in MySQL 5.0.30/5.1.13 (Database Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown function of the file sql_select.cc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. sql_select.cc in MySQL 5.0.x before 5.0.32 and 5.1.x before 5.1.14 allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (crash) via an EXPLAIN SELECT FROM on the INFORMATION_SCHEMA table, as originally demonstrated using ORDER BY.
The bug was discovered 09/16/2006. The weakness was presented 12/31/2006 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.mysql.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-7232 since 02/26/2008. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication.
