Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in FreeRadius 1.1.3 (Network Authentication Software). This issue affects the function smb_connect_server of the component Configuration File. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
** DISPUTED ** Buffer overflow in the SMB_Connect_Server function in FreeRadius 1.1.3 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary code related to the server desthost field of an SMB_Handle_Type instance. NOTE: the impact of this issue has been disputed by a reliable third party and the vendor, who states that exploitation is limited "only to local administrators who have write access to the server configuration files." CVE concurs with the dispute.
