Details
A vulnerability was found in Beckhoff Automation Beckhoff.Device.Manager.XAR, MDP software package for TwinCAT, BSD and MDP for Beckhoff RT Linux (affected version not known) and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component Web Service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A low privileged remote attacker can execute arbitrary code by sending specially crafted calls to the web service of the Device Manager or locally via an API and can cause integer overflows which then may lead to arbitrary code execution within privileged processes.
The weakness was published by Diego Giubertoni as VDE-2025-092. It is possible to read the advisory at certvde.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2025-41726 since 04/16/2025.
