Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in GNOME libsoup (the affected version unknown). This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component HTTP Redirect Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a insertion of sensitive information into sent data vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-201. The code transmits data to another actor, but a portion of the data includes sensitive information that should not be accessible to that actor. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

A flaw was found in the libsoup HTTP library that can cause proxy authentication credentials to be sent to unintended destinations. When handling HTTP redirects, libsoup removes the Authorization header but does not remove the Proxy-Authorization header if the request is redirected to a different host. As a result, sensitive proxy credentials may be leaked to third-party servers. Applications using libsoup for HTTP communication may unintentionally expose proxy authentication data.

The advisory is available at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-1539 since 01/28/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
