crypto-tls up to 1.24.11/1.25.5 on Go TLS Message verification of source

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in crypto-tls up to 1.24.11/1.25.5 on Go and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component TLS Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a verification of source vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-940. The product establishes a communication channel to handle an incoming request that has been initiated by an actor, but it does not properly verify that the request is coming from the expected origin. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

During the TLS 1.3 handshake if multiple messages are sent in records that span encryption level boundaries (for instance the Client Hello and Encrypted Extensions messages), the subsequent messages may be processed before the encryption level changes. This can cause some minor information disclosure if a network-local attacker can inject messages during the handshake.

This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-61730 since 09/30/2025. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 297011 (SUSE SLES15 Security Update : go1.25-openssl (SUSE-SU-2026:0297-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 1.24.12 or 1.25.6 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (297011), EUVD (EUVD-2025-206448) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2026-0129). Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
