Details
A vulnerability was found in F5 FirePass up to 6.0. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
F5 FirePass 5.4 through 5.5.2 and 6.0 allows remote attackers to access restricted URLs via (1) a trailing null byte, (2) multiple leading slashes, (3) Unicode encoding, (4) URL-encoded directory traversal or same-directory characters, or (5) upper case letters in the domain name.
The weakness was published 01/05/2007 by Greg Sinclair with mnin.org (Website). The advisory is shared for download at tech.f5.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-0187 since 01/10/2007.
