CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.121/6.12.66/6.18.6/6.19-rc5. This affects the function es58x_alloc_rx_urbs of the component can. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. The impact remains unknown. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: etas_es58x: allow partial RX URB allocation to succeed When es58x_alloc_rx_urbs() fails to allocate the requested number of URBs but succeeds in allocating some, it returns an error code. This causes es58x_open() to return early, skipping the cleanup label 'free_urbs', which leads to the anchored URBs being leaked. As pointed out by maintainer Vincent Mailhol, the driver is designed to handle partial URB allocation gracefully. Therefore, partial allocation should not be treated as a fatal error. Modify es58x_alloc_rx_urbs() to return 0 if at least one URB has been allocated, restoring the intended behavior and preventing the leak in es58x_open().

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-23037 since 01/13/2026. The exploitability is told to be difficult. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 297503 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2026-23037), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 6.6.122, 6.12.67, 6.18.7 or 6.19-rc6 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 611e839d2d552416b498ed5593e10670f61fcd4d/ba45e3d6b02c97dbb4578fbae7027fd66f3caa10/6c5124a60989051799037834f0a1a4b428718157/b1979778e98569c1e78c2c7f16bb24d76541ab00 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (297503), EUVD (EUVD-2026-5057) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2026-0280). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
