Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in litestar-org litestar up to 2.19.x. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function ord. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper handling of unicode encoding vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-176. The product does not properly handle when an input contains Unicode encoding. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Litestar is an Asynchronous Server Gateway Interface (ASGI) framework. Prior to 2.20.0, FileStore maps cache keys to filenames using Unicode NFKD normalization and ord() substitution without separators, creating key collisions. When FileStore is used as response-cache backend, an unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger cache key collisions via crafted paths, causing one URL to serve cached responses of another (cache poisoning/mixup). This vulnerability is fixed in 2.20.0.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-25480 since 02/02/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
