Details
A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.8 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the component wifi. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: correctly decode TTLM with default link map TID-To-Link Mapping (TTLM) elements do not contain any link mapping presence indicator if a default mapping is used and parsing needs to be skipped. Note that access points should not explicitly report an advertised TTLM with a default mapping as that is the implied mapping if the element is not included, this is even the case when switching back to the default mapping. However, mac80211 would incorrectly parse the frame and would also read one byte beyond the end of the element.
It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-23152 since 01/13/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/18/2026).
