Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.10/6.19.0. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function setup_bdev_super of the component hfs. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. The impact remains unknown. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hfs: ensure sb->s_fs_info is always cleaned up When hfs was converted to the new mount api a bug was introduced by changing the allocation pattern of sb->s_fs_info. If setup_bdev_super() fails after a new superblock has been allocated by sget_fc(), but before hfs_fill_super() takes ownership of the filesystem-specific s_fs_info data it was leaked. Fix this by freeing sb->s_fs_info in hfs_kill_super().
