Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in OpenEMR 2.8.2 (Business Process Management Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file import_xml.php. The manipulation of the argument rootdir with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Variable overwrite vulnerability in interface/globals.php in OpenEMR 2.8.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to overwrite arbitrary program variables and conduct other unauthorized activities, such as conduct (a) remote file inclusion attacks via the srcdir parameter in custom/import_xml.php or (b) cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via the rootdir parameter in interface/login/login_frame.php, via vectors associated with extract operations on the (1) POST and (2) GET superglobal arrays. NOTE: this issue was originally disputed before the extract behavior was identified in post-disclosure analysis. Also, the original report identified "Open Conference Systems," but this was an error.

The weakness was released 02/25/2007 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-0649 since 01/31/2007.
