Red Hat Enterprise Linux up to 10 udisks Storage Management Daemon authorization

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7/8/9/10. This issue affects an unknown function of the component udisks Storage Management Daemon. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a authorization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-862. The product does not perform an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

A flaw was found in the udisks storage management daemon that allows unprivileged users to back up LUKS encryption headers without authorization. The issue occurs because a privileged D-Bus method responsible for exporting encryption metadata does not perform a policy check. As a result, sensitive cryptographic metadata can be read and written to attacker-controlled locations. This weakens the confidentiality guarantees of encrypted storage volumes.

The advisory is shared at access.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-26104 since 02/11/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/14/2026).

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 299927 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2026-26104), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
