Details
A vulnerability was found in MaxSite CMS up to 109.1. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function eval of the file application/maxsite/admin/plugins/editor_markitup/preview-ajax.php of the component MarkItUp Preview AJAX Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-3395. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Upgrading to version 109.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 08937a3c5d672a242d68f53e9fccf8a748820ef3 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
