VMware Workstation 5.5.3 34685 does not immediately change the availability of a shared clipboard when the "Enable copy and paste to and from this virtual machine" checkbox is changed, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information or conduct certain attacks that are facilitated by weaker isolation between the host and guest operating systems.
The weakness was disclosed 02/03/2007 by Eitan Caspi (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-0832 since 02/07/2007. The exploitation appears to be difficult. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
