Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Paid Videochat Turnkey Site Plugin up to 7.3.20 on WordPress. This vulnerability affects the function videowhisper_register_form. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a remote privilege escalation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

The Paid Videochat Turnkey Site – HTML5 PPV Live Webcams plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 7.3.20. This is due to videowhisper_register_form() function not restricting user roles that can be set during registration. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Author-level access and above, to create posts/pages with the registration form and administrator set as the role and subsequently use that form to register an administrator account. This can also be exploited by contributors, but is far less likely to be successful because an administrator would need to approve the form with the administrator role for the attack to be successful.

The advisory is available at wordfence.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-8899. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/08/2026). This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
