Details
A vulnerability was found in MBS UBR-01 Mk II, UBR-02 and UBR-LON and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file wwupload.cgi. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A low-privileged remote attacker can exploit an arbitrary file write vulnerability in the wwupload.cgi endpoint. Due to path traversal this can lead to overwriting arbitrary files on the device and achieving a full system compromise.
The weakness was shared by Adrien Rey as mbs-2025-0001. It is possible to read the advisory at mbs-solutions.de. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2025-41758 since 04/16/2025.
