Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in MBS UBR-01 Mk II, UBR-02 and UBR-LON. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the file wwwdnload.cgi of the component Password Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a weak hash vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-328. The product uses an algorithm that produces a digest (output value) that does not meet security expectations for a hash function that allows an adversary to reasonably determine the original input (preimage attack), find another input that can produce the same hash (2nd preimage attack), or find multiple inputs that evaluate to the same hash (birthday attack). As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
An unauthenticated attacker can abuse the weak hash of the backup generated by the wwwdnload.cgi endpoint to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data, including password hashes and certificates.
The weakness was shared by Adrien Rey as mbs-2025-0001. The advisory is shared for download at mbs-solutions.de. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-41762 since 04/16/2025. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack needs to be approached locally. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1600.001.
Upgrading to version 6.0.1.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2025-208371). Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
