Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Red Hat Keycloak (the affected version is unknown). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown code of the component Account REST API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-284. The product does not restrict or incorrectly restricts access to a resource from an unauthorized actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

A flaw was identified in the Account REST API of Keycloak that allows a user authenticated at a lower security level to perform sensitive actions intended only for higher-assurance sessions. Specifically, an attacker who has already obtained a victim’s password can delete the victim’s registered MFA/OTP credential without first proving possession of that factor. The attacker can then register their own MFA device, effectively taking full control of the account. This weakness undermines the intended protection provided by multi-factor authentication.

The advisory is available at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-3429 since 03/02/2026. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 04/11/2026). This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
