A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in MailEnable Professional up to 2.35 (Mail Server Software). Affected by this issue is the function ntlm_unpack_type3 in the library mentlm.dll. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The NTLM_UnPack_Type3 function in MENTLM.dll in MailEnable Professional 2.35 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via certain base64-encoded data following an AUTHENTICATE NTLM command to the imap port (143/tcp), which results in an out-of-bounds read.
The weakness was presented 02/14/2007 with mu-b (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.grok.org.uk. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-0955 since 02/14/2007.
