A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Palo Alto Cortex XDR Broker VM up to 30.0.48. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Cortex UI. An information disclosure vulnerability in Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR® Broker VM allows an authenticated user to obtain and modify sensitive information by triggering live terminal session via Cortex UI and modifying any configuration setting.  The attacker must have network access to the Broker VM to exploit this issue.

The weakness was shared by Nicola Kalak. The advisory is shared at security.paloaltonetworks.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-0231 since 11/03/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. Additional levels of successful authentication are needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 30.0.49 eliminates this vulnerability.
