A vulnerability was found in @tinacms graphql up to 2.1.1 and classified as critical. This issue affects the function path.join. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 2.1.2, TinaCMS allows users to create, update, and delete content documents using relative file paths (relativePath, newRelativePath) via GraphQL mutations. Under certain conditions, these paths are combined with the collection path using path.join() without validating that the resolved path remains within the collection root directory. Because path.join() does not prevent directory traversal, paths containing ../ sequences can escape the intended directory boundary. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.2.
