PX4 PX4-Autopilot up to 1.17.0-rc1 File Descriptor control flow

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in PX4 PX4-Autopilot up to 1.17.0-rc1. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component File Descriptor Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a control flow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-670. The code contains a control flow path that does not reflect the algorithm that the path is intended to implement, leading to incorrect behavior any time this path is navigated. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:

PX4 autopilot is a flight control solution for drones. Prior to 1.17.0-rc2, A logic error in the PX4 Autopilot MAVLink FTP session validation uses incorrect boolean logic (&& instead of ||), allowing BurstReadFile and WriteFile operations to proceed with invalid sessions or closed file descriptors. This enables an unauthenticated attacker to put the FTP subsystem into an inconsistent state, trigger operations on invalid file descriptors, and bypass session isolation checks. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.17.0-rc2.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-32713 since 03/13/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

Upgrading to version 1.17.0-rc2 eliminates this vulnerability.
