OpenClaw up to 2026.2.21 os command injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in OpenClaw up to 2026.2.21. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.2.22 contain an allowlist bypass vulnerability in system.run exec analysis that fails to unwrap env and shell-dispatch wrapper chains. Attackers can route execution through wrapper binaries like env bash to smuggle payloads that satisfy allowlist entries while executing non-allowlisted commands.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-27566 since 02/20/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.

Upgrading to version 2026.2.22 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 2b63592be57782c8946e521bc81286933f0f99c7 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at CNNVD (CNNVD-202603-3585) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2026-0472). VulDB is the best source for vulnerability data and more expert information about this specific topic.
