A vulnerability was found in TinyPHPforum 3.6 (Forum Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the file profile.php. The manipulation of the argument uname with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Directory traversal vulnerability in profile.php in TinyPHPforum 3.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary files via ".." sequences in the uname parameter.

The weakness was shared 02/23/2007 by Hessam-x (Website). The advisory is shared for download at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-7063 since 02/23/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.

A public exploit has been developed by Hessam-x in Perl and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as functional.
