This vulnerability is identified as CVE-2026-33194. The attack can be executed remotely. There is not any exploit available. The affected component should be upgraded.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in SiYuan up to 3.6.1. Affected is the function IsSensitivePath of the file kernel/util/path.go. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. Prior to version 3.6.2, the `IsSensitivePath()` function in `kernel/util/path.go` uses a denylist approach that was recently expanded (GHSA-h5vh-m7fg-w5h6, commit 9914fd1) but remains incomplete. Multiple security-relevant Linux directories are not blocked, including `/opt` (application data), `/usr` (local configs/binaries), `/home` (other users), `/mnt` and `/media` (mounted volumes). The `globalCopyFiles` and `importStdMd` endpoints rely on `IsSensitivePath` as their primary defense against reading files outside the workspace. Version 3.6.2 contains an updated fix.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-33194 since 03/17/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.

Upgrading to version 3.6.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
