A vulnerability was found in XeroXer Simple one-file gallery 0.6 (Photo Gallery Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file gallery.php. The manipulation of the argument f with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in gallery.php in XeroXer Simple one-file gallery allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the f parameter.
The weakness was presented 02/23/2007 by Laurent Gaffie (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-1124 since 02/26/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
