Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in LibVNC Server up to 0.9.15. Affected by this issue is the function httpProcessInput of the file httpd.c of the component HTTP Proxy Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
LibVNCServer versions 0.9.15 and prior (fixed in commit dc78dee) contain null pointer dereference vulnerabilities in the HTTP proxy handlers within httpProcessInput() in httpd.c that allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service by sending specially crafted HTTP requests. Attackers can exploit missing validation of strchr() return values in the CONNECT and GET proxy handling paths to trigger null pointer dereferences and crash the server when httpd and proxy features are enabled.
