Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in parse-community parse-server up to 8.6.58/9.6.0-alpha.52. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the component PostgreSQL Database. The manipulation of the argument group with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to versions 8.6.59 and 9.6.0-alpha.53, an attacker with master key access can execute arbitrary SQL statements on the PostgreSQL database by injecting SQL metacharacters into field name parameters of the aggregate $group pipeline stage or the distinct operation. This allows privilege escalation from Parse Server application-level administrator to PostgreSQL database-level access. Only Parse Server deployments using PostgreSQL are affected. MongoDB deployments are not affected. This issue has been patched in versions 8.6.59 and 9.6.0-alpha.53.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-33539 since 03/20/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are necessary for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
