Linux Kernel up to 6.19.6/7.0-rc2 __xe_exec_queue_fini allocation of resources

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.6/7.0-rc2. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function __xe_exec_queue_fini. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/xe/queue: Call fini on exec queue creation fail Every call to queue init should have a corresponding fini call. Skipping this would mean skipping removal of the queue from GuC list (which is part of guc_id allocation). A damaged queue stored in exec_queue_lookup list would lead to invalid memory reference, sooner or later. Call fini to free guc_id. This must be done before any internal LRCs are freed. Since the finalization with this extra call became very similar to __xe_exec_queue_fini(), reuse that. To make this reuse possible, alter xe_lrc_put() so it can survive NULL parameters, like other similar functions. v2: Reuse _xe_exec_queue_fini(). Make xe_lrc_put() aware of NULLs.
