Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Foxit PDF Editor and PDF Reader and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:

The application does not validate the presence of required appearance (AP) data before accessing stamp annotation resources. When a PDF contains a stamp annotation missing its AP entry, the code continues to dereference the associated object without a prior null or validity check, which allows a crafted document to trigger a null pointer dereference and crash the application, resulting in denial of service.
