A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Digium Asterisk (Communications System). This affects an unknown function of the component Session Initiation Protocol. Asterisk 1.4 before 1.4.1 and 1.2 before 1.2.16 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) by sending a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) packet without a URI and SIP-version header, which results in a NULL pointer dereference.
The bug was discovered 03/03/2007. The weakness was shared 03/04/2007 by Mu Security with Mu Security as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-1306 since 03/06/2007. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
