The default configuration of the AirPort utility in Apple AirPort Extreme creates an IPv6 tunnel but does not enable the "Block incoming IPv6 connections" setting, which might allow remote attackers to bypass intended access restrictions by establishing IPv6 sessions that would have been rejected over IPv4.
The weakness was released 02/14/2007 (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-1338 since 03/07/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
