Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Icecast ezstream up to 0.2.1. It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function replacestring of the file src/ezstream.c of the component Configuration File. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-121. A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function). As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Multiple buffer overflows in src/ezstream.c in Ezstream before 0.3.0 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted XML configuration file processed by the (1) urlParse function, which causes a stack-based overflow and the (2) ReplaceString function, which causes a heap-based overflow. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.

The weakness was disclosed 03/05/2007 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at secunia.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-1344 since 03/07/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely.
