Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in vllm-project vLLM up to 0.18.x. Affected by this issue is the function download_bytes_from_url of the component URL Validation Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models (LLMs). From 0.16.0 to before 0.19.0, a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in download_bytes_from_url allows any actor who can control batch input JSON to make the vLLM batch runner issue arbitrary HTTP/HTTPS requests from the server, without any URL validation or domain restrictions. This can be used to target internal services (e.g. cloud metadata endpoints or internal HTTP APIs) reachable from the vLLM host. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.19.0.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-34753 since 03/30/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 0.19.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
