Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in pyLoad. Affected by this issue is the function set_config_value of the component SETTING Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a authorization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-863. The product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. This allows attackers to bypass intended access restrictions. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
pyLoad is a free and open-source download manager written in Python. Prior to 0.5.0b3.dev97, the ADMIN_ONLY_CORE_OPTIONS authorization set in set_config_value() uses incorrect option names ssl_cert and ssl_key, while the actual configuration option names are ssl_certfile and ssl_keyfile. This name mismatch causes the admin-only check to always evaluate to False, allowing any user with SETTINGS permission to overwrite the SSL certificate and key file paths. Additionally, the ssl_certchain option was never added to the admin-only set at all. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.5.0b3.dev97.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-35586 since 04/03/2026. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 0.5.0b3.dev97 eliminates this vulnerability.
