A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in ChurchCRM up to 6.5.2. Affected is the function tmp_attach of the file src/ChurchCRM/Backup/RestoreJob.php of the component Backup Restore Handler. The manipulation of the argument rawUploadedFile with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. ChurchCRM is an open-source church management system. Prior to 6.5.3, a path traversal vulnerability in ChurchCRM's backup restore functionality allows authenticated administrators to upload arbitrary files and achieve remote code execution by overwriting Apache .htaccess configuration files. The vulnerability exists in src/ChurchCRM/Backup/RestoreJob.php. The $rawUploadedFile['name'] parameter is user-controlled and allows uploading files with arbitrary names to /var/www/html/tmp_attach/ChurchCRMBackups/. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.5.3.
