Details
A vulnerability was found in danbilabs Advanced Members for ACF Plugin up to 1.2.5 on WordPress and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function create_crop of the component Path Validation Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Advanced Members for ACF plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the create_crop function in all versions up to, and including, 1.2.5. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php). The vulnerability was partially patched in version 1.2.5.
The weakness was released by Muhammad Yudha. The advisory is shared for download at wordfence.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-3243 since 02/26/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
Upgrading to version 1.2.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
