Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Rapid7 Insight Agent on Linux. Affected is the function eval of the component Beacon Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a eval injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-95. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes code syntax before using the input in a dynamic evaluation call (e.g. "eval"). This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
An eval() injection vulnerability in the Rapid7 Insight Agent beaconing logic for Linux versions could theoretically allow an attacker to achieve remote code execution as root via a crafted beacon response. Because the Agent uses mutual TLS (mTLS) to verify commands from the Rapid7 Platform, it is unlikely that the eval() function could be exploited remotely without prior, highly privileged access to the backend platform.
The advisory is shared for download at docs.rapid7.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-4837 since 03/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are necessary for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 4.1.0.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
