Details
A vulnerability has been found in TP-Link AX53 up to 1.7.0 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component tmpServer Module. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-121. A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function). As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A stack-based buffer overflow in the tmpServer module of TP-Link Archer AX53 v1.0 allows an authenticated adjacent attacker to trigger a segmentation fault and potentially execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted configuration file. Successful exploitation may cause a crash and could allow arbitrary code execution, enabling modification of device state, exposure of sensitive data, or further compromise of device integrity. This issue affects AX53 v1.0: before 1.7.1 Build 20260213.
The advisory is shared for download at tp-link.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-30814 since 03/05/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
